Drought Conditions Worsen

The drought of 2016 continues here in Prince Edward County, unfortunately with no end in sight.  The area has now entered unprecedented Level 3 low water conditions, with restrictions on water usage.  The 2016 pea season has been the most challenging in our history.  We have experienced a myriad of problems associated with the lack of rain.  The dry conditions have created poor germination, limited yield potential, thrown off harvest timing, and effects pea quality and flavour.  We have done our very best to keep shelves filled at your local stores, but unfortunately our limited supply has hindered our efforts.  Thankfully we still have plenty of peas in the ground, and a few more months in our season.  Thank-you for supporting us along with all of Ontario's framers during this difficult growing season.
